DONEEN AC - THIRD RACE IN LIMERICK SERIES

Don't forget that the third race in the Limerick Series takes place on Thursday week next, August 5th. The same conditions apply as per the previous races and full details are below. PLease also find a map of the course which Tracey has kindly provided.

Well done to all those who participated in the second run of the Summer Series. The weather was poor again but it didn't prevent a sizeable number from turning up to compete.

Mac Domhnaill Wins in Kerry
Aogán Mac Domhnaill led from the start in the Baile na nGall 10k last Saturday and just held off the challenge from Frank Mc Guigan, Clonliffe Harriers, on a very wet and windy course bordering the Atlantic. Veronica Colleran, Ennis Track, took the women’s race. Also running from the club were Carmel and Mike Mac Domhnaill with Carmel winning her master’s category.
It was nice to hear the full race commentary in Irish and the proceeds went to charity. Lá d’ár saol, mar a deireann siad thiar.
 
Mc Cartan back on Track
This year’s track & field season was never going to be easy for Pat Mc Cartan as he was overcoming injury for most of the build-up. He ran well enough in the semi-finals of the National T&F in Tullamore to qualify for the final. His time of 3.55 for the 1500m is at least five seconds off his best and we expect that in three to four weeks time he will be back in top form.
He will continue with his racing schedule next week-end in the National T&F League in Santry. Go n-éirí leis.  
 
Munster Masters
Anyone interested in taking part in the Munster Masters T&F Championship should contack Willie Costello regarding entry. There is some doubt whether the venue will be UL or CorkIT. We will have full details next week.

Dromcollogher Road Race

Last Monday night the annual festival race took place in Dromcollogher and was a great success. It is wonderful that the festival committee keeps the race as part of the programme and they are to be congratulated on this the 70th such festival. In the region of 130 participated either walking or running. Gerry Forde, Mallow,  won the wheelchair section. The entire results are now available to download and a special ‘go raibh míle’ to Mossie Woulfe for compiling these on the night. The Prize winners information is also available here.

LIMERICK SUMMER RUN SERIES!! STARTING THIS THURSDAY

An exciting run series has been planned for this summer in Limerick. It starts with a 3 mile run  at the Country Club this Thursday,  8th July at 7.30pm, a 5k run on July 15th starting a Southhill Community Centre, a 4 mile run organised by Doneen AC on August 5th and finishing with a 6k run organised by UL Rowing Club boathouse on 26th August!!

A huge turnout of over 225 runners last night at Bilboa AC , Cappamore. The weather was also kind and the heat of the previous three nights was not as prevalent. The West LImerick AC brigade were well represented too. Home first was Michael Herlihy in a brillian time of 31mins 45secs. followed by Labela Debeta of Limerick AC and Martin Doody of Limerick AC who has returned to form. Rosemary Ryan of Bilboa AC togged out and competed at the last minute to win the ladies race, followed by a an excellent run by Tracey Roche of Doneen AC and Mary Louise Ryan also of Bilboa AC.  Dermot Kearns was the first West Limerick AC runner home in 5th place and Fiona Bourke was first lady home.
