The Adare 10k road race organised by West Limerick Athletic Club was held in ideal weather conditions and with almost 600 athletes going to the starting line there were outstanding performances from athletes who travelled from far and near. It was Sean Hehir from Clare and Running with Rathfarnham A. C. Dublin who took the field apart right from the start along with Paddy Hamilton Annadale Striders Belfast. These two top class athletes were neck and neck throughout the journey with Sean Hehir winning on a sprint finish for the second year in a row with a time of (30mins . 39secs) and he was just four seconds off Seamus Powers Course Record second Paddy Hamilton (30mins . 42secs) another Clareman Michael Shannon Kilnaboy ran a strong race and finished third in (31mins . 48secs) followed by Cian Murphy Iveragh. Kerry. In fifth position and in first for West Limerick came Mike O B rien in 33.23, Niall O Callaghan 7th , David Richardson 10^th and Gerard Guina 11^th was sufficent to capture the team prize ahead of Kilmurry Ibricen AC. West Limerick also took 3^rd team prize with Dermot Kearns 13^th, Ian Kelly 27^th ,Willie Brosnahan 28^th and Gary Wilmott 29^th.

The masters mens race was of a high standard with Eugene Moynihan Marian AC winning the 0/55 in a time of 35.40. not far behind Dermot Kearns 0/40 who ran 35.09 Mike Cunningham took the o/45 title in a time of 36.04

 

　

The Senior Ladies race attracted well known runners and the big surprise here came from Barbara Cleary Miltown Malbay taking the title in (36mins . 42secs) well ahead of last years runner up Tracy Roche Dooneen (38mins . 50secs) and third Dymphna Ryan Dundrum (39mins . 03secs) Aislinn Nic Dhomhnaill was 1^st for West Limerick and had a great run to finish in 4^th position in a time of 39.32 . Aislinn , Andrea Walken 8^th and Fiona Bourke 9^th took the senior womens team prize. 2^nd team prize also went to West Limerick with Patricia Mc Namara,16^th Siobhán Kelly 26^th and Lisa Blackwell 31^st .Anne Mc Phail won o/40 in 40.29 and Deirdre Gallagher was the o/45 winner in a time of 49.20.
